Avant de frapper le Québec, les orages se sont déchaînés en Ontario. Arbres déracinés, dégâts matériels importants et pannes d'électricité ont été constatés en après-midi, jeudi.

La région métropolitaine a elle aussi été secouée. Une violente cellule, qui a balayé l'ouest de l'île de Montréal, a d'ailleurs retenu l'attention : de gros grêlons sont tombés, notamment dans les environs de Saint-Joseph-du-Lac.

Certains atteignaient même la grosseur d'une pièce de deux dollars ! Les plus gros grêlons à avoir été observés ont un diamètre de six centimètres, d'après les informations actuellement disponibles.

La pluie torrentielle a été le principal facteur de risque à considérer en soirée, jeudi. Plusieurs routes ont été inondées, notamment en raison de refoulement d'égouts. La ligne bleue du métro de Montréal doit également composer avec des infiltrations d'eau. Ces images démontrent également la pression exercée par les quantités d'eau sur les égouts...
