samedi, 11 décembre 2021 à 06:00 - Le même système, qui va toucher le Québec ce samedi, a généré plusieurs tornades la nuit dernière dans le sud des États-Unis et le Midwest.
Une tornade représente déjà un immense danger. Mais plusieurs tornades qui se forment à la tombée de la nuit, il s’agit littéralement d’un scénario de film catastrophe. C’est malheureusement ce qui s’est passé durant la soirée de vendredi dernier.

Des dommages colossaux et plusieurs décès
Maisons détruites jusqu’à leurs fondations, effondrement d’entrepôts et même déraillement d’un train… les tornades qui ont frappé les États de l’Arkansas, du Kentucky, du Tennessee, du Missouri et de l’Illinois ont semé la destruction sur leur passage.

Des centaines de personnes se sont également retrouvées piégées dans des bâtiments partiellement effondrés, alors qu’elles tentaient de se protéger.
Le bilan des blessés et des morts est toujours en cours. Jusqu’à présent, une dizaine de décès liés aux tornades ont été rapportés. Mais selon ce qu’a indiqué le gouverneur du Kentucky au journal le New York Post, le bilan de mortalité pourrait atteindre les 50 à 70 morts pour la ville de Mayfield, au Kentucky seulement !
Pareillement, le nombre de blessés pourrait être de plusieurs centaines, voire des milliers à travers le sud des États-Unis et le Midwest.
Au moment d’écrire ces lignes, la force des tornades n’avait pas encore été confirmée. Toutefois, certains observateurs suggèrent que celle qui a frappé la ville de Mayfield pourrait être une tornade EF-3.

Le risque d’orages violents va persister encore pour ces secteurs et pourrait même s’étendre jusqu’au sud du Michigan et au nord de l’Ohio tôt samedi.
